Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer for a fully remote role with a connection to the Soweto, Gauteng area. You will lead the detailed design of civil infrastructure, develop calculations and drawings, and collaborate with a global team to deliver projects across sectors.

The position requires Pr Eng registration, a Master’s degree, and 8+ years of experience. You will mentor junior staff, respond to RFIs, and help with proposals while staying current with industry best

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA or equivalent international registration is required.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design with a strong project portfolio.
• Expert proficiency in civil design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, hydraulic modelling).
• Ability to work independently in a remote capacity and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed design of civil infrastructure including site development, earthworks, roads and drainage.
• Develop design calculations, drawings and specifications using advanced software.
• Collaborate with a global team of engineers, architects and PMs via virtual platforms.
• Perform design reviews to ensure compliance with codes and standards.

This position is integral to designing and delivering innovative civil infrastructure solutions for projects spanning various sectors. You will leverage your extensive experience and technical expertise to contribute to groundbreaking developments while working from your own home office. This role demands autonomy, strong technical judgment, and exceptional collaboration skills within a virtual setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design of civil infrastructure projects, including site development, earthworks, roads, and drainage systems.
• Develop comprehensive design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications using advanced software tools.
• Collaborate closely with a global team of engineers, architects, and project managers through virtual platforms.
• Conduct thorough design reviews and ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff remotely.
• Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and provide support during the construction phase.
• Contribute to proposal development and assist in securing new project opportunities.
