Placements24 seeks a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their Welkom team. You will develop detailed infrastructure designs for roads, drainage, grading, and utilities, translating concepts into constructible plans and ensuring compliance with SA standards. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement in the Free State with collaboration in the office and flexible remote days.

Requires Pr. Eng, 7+ years’ civil design experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D to deliver technically

Qualifications

• BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Pr. Eng designation required.
• Minimum 7 years of civil engineering design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and related design software.
• Strong knowledge of South African design standards, building codes and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs for infrastructure projects, including site grading, drainage systems, road layouts, and utility installations.
• Prepare technical specifications, bill of quantities, and construction drawings using industry-standard software.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis for structural integrity, hydraulic capacity, and traffic flow.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure design alignment with project objectives and constraints.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs from contractors during construction.
• Contribute to environmental impact assessments and obtain necessary permits and approvals.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs for infrastructure projects, including site grading, drainage systems, road layouts, and utility installations.
• Prepare technical specifications, bill of quantities, and construction drawings using industry-standard software.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis for structural integrity, hydraulic capacity, and traffic flow.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure design alignment with project objectives and constraints.
• Review shop drawings and respond to requests for information (RFIs) from contractors during the construction phase.
• Contribute to the development of environmental impact assessments and obtain necessary permits and approvals.

Requirements

• BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) designation required.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience focused on civil engineering design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant design and modeling software.
• Strong knowledge of South African design standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
