Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee operations in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will lead production activities, plan schedules, and manage safety, quality and environmental compliance across the manufacturing floor.

The role requires strong leadership, deep technical knowledge of chemical processes, and a proven ability to optimize operations while delivering targets. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive production management experience in chemical manufacturing.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
• Familiarity with HAZOP and PSM safety protocols.
• Proficiency with production planning software and ERP systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance within the chemical industry.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all production activities to ensure safe operations.
• Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet demand.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of chemical processing equipment.
• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Manage, train, and mentor a team of production supervisors and operators.
• Monitor production output and analyze performance data to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and supply chain to resolve issues.
• Manage inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
• Prepare production reports and present KPIs to senior management.
• Foster culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
