You will develop and maintain robust quality management systems, ensuring ISO 9001 compliance and adherence to customer specifications to drive continuous improvements in product quality and process reliability.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years in chemical engineering with 3–4 years in QA/QC.
• Strong SPC knowledge and familiarity with regulatory standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

About the Role

Our client, a leading producer of high-purity chemicals, is seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Engineer with a strong background in Quality Assurance and Control to join their esteemed operations in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This role is vital for upholding the stringent quality standards of our products and processes. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality management systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will combine in-depth chemical engineering knowledge with a meticulous approach to quality control, driving continuous improvement in product consistency and reliability. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures for chemical processes.
• Oversee analytical testing protocols and ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
• Conduct root cause analysis for quality deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with production, R&D, and regulatory affairs teams to resolve quality issues.
• Manage and maintain quality documentation, including SOPs, batch records, and validation reports.
• Lead internal and external audits related to quality systems.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance product quality and consistency.
• Train staff on quality standards, procedures and best practices.
• Monitor key quality metrics and provide regular reports to management.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in chemical engineering, with at least 3-4 years focused specifically on quality assurance or quality control roles.
• Strong knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems.
• Experience with analytical instrumentation and laboratory procedures.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards relevant to the chemical industry.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in technical writing and documentation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience working in the Stellenbosch, Western Cape region or a willingness to adapt to a hybrid work model is preferred.
