Placements24 is seeking a Lead Chemical Engineer in Randburg to oversee operational excellence, mentor engineers, and drive process optimization across petrochemical facilities. You will lead troubleshooting, capital projects, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

This hybrid role combines on-site leadership with remote strategic planning and data analysis, requiring strong communication, project management, and the ability to develop budgets and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
• Master's degree is a plus and preferred for leadership roles.
• 9+ years in chemical engineering with focus on petrochemical operations and process optimization.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of petrochemical processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• Experience with MOC and PHA processes and project execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of chemical engineers supporting plant operations.
• Drive process optimization to improve yield, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
• Provide technical troubleshooting for plant operations and equipment.
• Oversee development and implementation of process improvements and capital projects.
• Ensure adherence to SHE standards and regulations.
• Develop and manage operational budgets and performance metrics.
• Mentor junior staff and foster professional growth.
• Collaborate with maintenance, R&D, and management to meet business goals.
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement preventive actions.
• Promote adoption of new technologies and best practices in operations.
