Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to join their innovative team in a fully remote role across South Africa. You will drive process improvements, design new chemical processes, and ensure safety and operational efficiency on diverse projects.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Engineering with 7+ years of experience in process design, simulations (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD, plus strong thermodynamics, kinetics, and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in chemical process design, development, and optimization.
• Experience with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience in project management and leading technical initiatives.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently and remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes and equipment for new and existing products.
• Conduct feasibility studies, process simulations, and pilot plant trials to validate process designs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues in chemical manufacturing environments.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, and project management, to achieve project goals.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of best practices within the engineering discipline.
