Job summary

Placements24, a leading automotive design and engineering firm in George, seeks a Senior Automotive Chassis Engineer to join its team. You will design, develop, and test chassis systems including suspension, steering and braking to optimize dynamics, ride comfort and safety.

The role requires hands-on testing, CAE tool proficiency (ANSYS, ABAQUS, ADAMS), strong vehicle dynamics knowledge, and collaboration with cross-functional groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Automotive Chassis Engineer or in a similar specialized role.
• In-depth knowledge of suspension, steering, and braking system design and integration.
• Proficiency with CAE tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, ADAMS, or similar.
• Experience with data acquisition systems and vehicle testing methodologies.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects and work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in designing for electric or hybrid vehicles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop chassis components and systems, including suspension, steering, and braking systems.
• Conduct simulations and analysis (e.g., FEA, Multibody Dynamics) to predict and optimize chassis performance.
• Plan and execute vehicle testing, including track testing and real-world road testing, to validate chassis design.
• Analyze test data and provide engineering recommendations for design improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including vehicle dynamics, powertrain, and body engineering, to ensure integrated system performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex chassis-related issues during development and production phases.
• Ensure that chassis designs meet performance, safety, durability, and cost targets.
• Stay updated on the latest chassis technologies and industry trends.
• Develop technical specifications and documentation for chassis components and systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team.
