Job summary

West Coast Personnel in Table View, Cape Town, seeks a Senior Bookkeeper/Accountant to manage the day-to-day financial function for an established SME. You will oversee full bookkeeping, GL and month-end reporting, with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.

The role requires 5–10 years of relevant experience, strong Pastel Evolution and Payroll skills, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines. Competitive salary offered.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years' relevant experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
• Strong experience in debtors, creditors, cashbooks, and reconciliations.
• Knowledge of VAT, PAYE, Income Tax and SARS.
• Proficient in Pastel Evolution, Pastel Payroll; MS Excel expertise.
• High accuracy, organization and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Full bookkeeping function including cashbooks, bank reconciliations, General Ledger and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Debtors & Creditors: invoicing, payments, reconciliations, age analysis and queries.
• Stock & Assets: GRVs, stock counts and reconciliations.
• Prepare and process local supplier payments.
• VAT, SARS, PAYE and UIF requirements.
• Pastel Payroll for approximately 90–100 employees, including overtime, commissions, reports and SARS payments.
• Month‑end reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Assist with audits and year‑end requirements.
• Identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
