Cannect Digital, a Durban-based Performance Marketing group, seeks a Senior Bookkeeper to own day-to-day accounting across three entities using Xero. You will handle reconciliations, client billing, debtors, VAT, payroll inputs and year-end work with external accountants.
You will report to Directors, maintain accuracy and timely reporting, and support asset registers, compliance packs, and group insurance across entities.
Cannect Digital is an established Durban Performance Marketing with an eleven-year track record. Alongside it sit two much smaller trading companies. Our finance function is currently outsourced. We are bringing the day-to-day work in-house, and we are looking for a senior bookkeeper to own it across all three companies. We sincerely love and take care of our team and you will be joining a family. Our culture is one of our best features, and if you're the right fit, we know you will be happy with us. The base salary is R22,500 per month and then twice a year (January and July) we pay additional bonuses. We are so driven by learning and growth so we're happy to send you on courses to uplift your expertise and make you an even better bookkeeper.
You will process all three sets of books in Xero, run the reconciliations, own the client billing run and the debtors book, carry the financial administration and prepare the monthly management accounts. Our external accounting firm stays on alongside you: they review your month-end, submit the VAT returns, process the payroll and prepare the annual financial statements.
This is a standalone role. You will be the person who keeps the books clean, the debtors book under control and the Directors properly informed across every entity. The numbers you produce are what the Directors use to make decisions, so accuracy and timing matter. .

income statement and balance sheet per entity plus a group summary, the agreed ratio and KPI pack, plain-language commentary on movements and variances, submitted to our external accountants for review and then to the Directors by an agreed working day each month. You attend the monthly numbers meeting and answer questions on what you produced.

prepare and reconcile the VAT schedules per entity and hand a clean, supported pack to our external accountants for submission; provide payroll inputs to the outsourced payroll function and process the payroll journals; maintain employment files, UIF records and statutory documentation; keep records audit-ready year-round; support the external accountants on provisional tax, year-end and routine SARS queries.
build and maintain the fixed asset register across all three entities (additions, disposals, depreciation schedules, verification and reconciliation to the general ledger); keep each company’s FICA pack current with the banks, insurers and service providers (CIPC documents, director identification, proof of address, resolutions and annual refreshes); maintain a FICA and statutory document register so nothing lapses; support CIPC annual returns and company secretarial record keeping; manage the group insurance schedule and renewals; and handle the general financial administration and ad-hoc Director requests.
track expenses against budget and flag overspend; maintain the supplier, contract and software subscription register; follow the agreed approval and payment controls, and tell us where they are not working.
