Placements24 is partnering with a rapidly expanding technology firm in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, to hire a Senior Blockchain Engineer focused on scalability and performance optimization. You will architect and implement solutions to handle increasing transaction volumes and complex operations.

You will collaborate with smart contract teams, lead critical performance tuning efforts, and mentor junior engineers, contributing to the growth of a world-class blockchain platform.

Formación

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of software experience with at least 4 years on blockchain development.
• Proven expertise in scalability solutions (Sharding, Rollups, State Channels).

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding technology firm focused on developing high-throughput blockchain solutions, is seeking a Senior Blockchain Engineer with a specialization in scalability and performance optimization. This role is critical to enhancing the capabilities of our core blockchain platform, enabling it to handle increasing transaction volumes and complex operations efficiently. You will be responsible for architecting and implementing solutions that address key challenges in blockchain scalability, consensus mechanisms, and network performance. Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement innovative solutions to improve the scalability and performance of our blockchain platform.
• Optimize consensus algorithms, transaction processing, and network communication protocols.
• Develop and integrate advanced layer-2 scaling solutions.
• Conduct in-depth performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and implement effective optimizations.
• Collaborate with smart contract developers to ensure efficient execution and minimize gas costs.
• Research and evaluate emerging blockchain technologies and methodologies for potential adoption.
• Lead code reviews, ensuring adherence to high standards of quality, security, and performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 4 years specifically focused on blockchain development.
• Demonstrated expertise in blockchain scalability solutions (e.g., Sharding, Rollups, State Channels).
• Strong understanding of various consensus mechanisms (e.g., PoW, PoS, PBFT).
• Proficiency in low-level programming languages (e.g., C++, Go, Rust).
• Experience with network programming and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of cryptographic principles relevant to blockchain.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and performance tuning skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, crucial for our team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape .
