Placements24 is seeking a Blockchain Platform Engineer to join the core technology team in Stellenbosch. You will maintain and optimize blockchain nodes, networks, and related services to ensure stability, performance and security of the blockchain ecosystem.

The role requires a strong background in distributed systems, Linux administration, and containerization with Docker/Kubernetes, plus experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years in systems/infrastructure with distributed systems.
• Proven blockchain node experience (Ethereum, Bitcoin, Hyperledger).

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure and maintain blockchain nodes and networks.
• Monitor health, performance, and security of networks.
• Automate blockchain deployments with infrastructure tools.
• Troubleshoot connectivity, consensus issues and node performance.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Blockchain Platform Engineer to join their core technology team in Stellenbosch. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the underlying infrastructure that supports our blockchain operations. You will be responsible for deploying, managing, and optimizing blockchain nodes, networks, and associated services. This position requires a strong understanding of distributed systems, network infrastructure, and the specific operational requirements of blockchain platforms. Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain blockchain nodes and network infrastructure.
• Monitor the health, performance, and security of blockchain networks and related services.
• Implement and manage infrastructure automation tools for blockchain deployments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network connectivity, consensus, and node performance.
• Develop and maintain documentation for platform architecture, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of blockchain applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure operations, with a focus on distributed systems.
• Proven experience managing and operating blockchain nodes (e.g., Ethereum, Bitcoin, Hyperledger).

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
