Placements24 is seeking a Senior Blockchain Architect in Randburg to design and oversee scalable, secure blockchain solutions. You will set technical strategy, evaluate emerging technologies, and guide architecture for rapid growth and complex transactions.

The ideal candidate has deep distributed ledger knowledge, experience with Layer 2, sharding, and off‑chain tech, and strong leadership and mentoring abilities to drive multiple teams forward.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of software architecture and engineering experience with a focus on blockchain technologies.
• Deep knowledge of Ethereum, Solana, Polkadot and their underlying protocols.
• Experience designing scalable systems including Layer 2, sharding and off‑chain tech.
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, C++, or Java.
• Strong cryptography, distributed systems, and network security understanding.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor teams.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and communication skills.

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in the Randburg blockchain technology sector, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Blockchain Architect. This role is pivotal in designing and overseeing the architecture of scalable, secure, and performant blockchain solutions. You will be responsible for defining technical strategies, evaluating emerging technologies, and ensuring our platforms can handle rapid growth and complex transaction volumes. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of distributed ledger technologies, consensus mechanisms, and network architecture, with a proven track record of architecting large-scale blockchain systems. This is a strategic leadership role within our Gauteng operations.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement robust blockchain architectures that meet scalability, security, and performance requirements. Evaluate and select appropriate blockchain platforms, consensus algorithms, and supporting technologies. Lead the development of technical roadmaps and architectural blueprints for new blockchain initiatives. Collaborate with engineering teams to guide the implementation of architectural designs. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams. Conduct feasibility studies, proof-of-concepts, and performance analyses for proposed solutions. Ensure adherence to industry best practices, security standards, and regulatory compliance. Stay current with advancements in blockchain technology, Layer 2 solutions, and related infrastructure. Communicate architectural vision and technical strategies to stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements

Minimum 8 years of experience in software architecture and engineering, with a significant focus on blockchain technologies. In-depth knowledge of various blockchain platforms (e.g., Ethereum, Solana, Polkadot) and their underlying protocols. Expertise in designing for scalability, including Layer 2 solutions, sharding, and other off-chain technologies. Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages (e.g., Go, Rust, C++, Java). Strong understanding of distributed systems, cryptography, and network security. Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor teams. Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
