Placements24 is seeking a Senior Bioinformatician for a fully remote role focused on genomic data analysis. You will design and optimize pipelines, process large-scale sequencing data, identify variants, and contribute to diagnostics development.

You will collaborate with molecular biologists and computational scientists across time zones, mentor junior team members, publish findings, and stay current with tools and methods in genomics, machine learning, and statistical genetics.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's in Bioinformatics or related field.
• ≥5 years of bioinformatics/computational genomics experience.
• Proficiency in Python, R, and/or Perl.
• Experience with NGS data formats (e.g., BAM, VCF, FASTQ) and pipelines.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in bioinformatics or computational genomics research.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or Perl.
• Extensive experience with bioinformatics tools and pipelines for NGS data analysis (e.g., alignment, variant calling, RNA-Seq analysis).
• Strong understanding of statistical genetics, population genetics, and machine learning algorithms.
• Experience with common genomic data formats (e.g., BAM, VCF, FASTQ) and databases.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in distributed teams.
• Publication record in peer-reviewed journals is a strong asset.
