Placements24 seeks a Senior Biochemist for its client’s cutting-edge laboratories in Centurion, Gauteng. The role centers on in-depth biochemical process study and novel drug candidate development, with hands-on experiment design and execution.

You will collaborate with medicinal chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to advance drug discovery, analyze results, and present findings while upholding safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related life science field.
• Minimum 5 years post-doctoral or industry experience in drug discovery or biochemical research.
• Extensive experience with protein purification, enzyme kinetics, and assay development.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team in Centurion, Gauteng.

Responsabilités

• Design, perform, and optimize biochemical assays to evaluate drug targets and compounds.
• Characterize activity, kinetics, and mechanism of action of enzymes and biomolecules.
• Utilize spectroscopy, chromatography, and electrophoresis.
• Analyze data, generate reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to advance drug discovery.
• Troubleshoot experimental procedures and ensure reliability of results.
