Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Legal Advisor for a remote role in South Africa, focusing on banking and finance law. The successful candidate will provide expert legal counsel on financial transactions, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance, while liaising with regulators and external counsel from Centurion, Gauteng or remotely across ZA.

Required are an admitted SA attorney status and an LLB, with 5–7 years of post-qualification banking & finance experience.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa or equivalent.
• LLB degree or higher.
• 5–7 years post-qualification experience in banking and finance.
• Experience in big law firm or in-house legal department preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SA financial services regulations.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal counsel on banking products, services and transactions.
• Ensure compliance with SA banking regulations and authorities.
• Draft, review and negotiate loan, security and intercreditor documents.
• Advise on corporate governance within financial services.
• Manage legal risk for new product development and operations.
• Liaise with external counsel and regulators as required.
• Conduct legal research on banking and finance topics.
• Assist in developing and implementing legal policies and procedures.
• Support business units in achieving objectives within a compliant framework.
