Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our fully remote team. Design, build, and scale backend services powering our platform, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions from anywhere.

You'll work with Go, Python, or Java, leverage cloud platforms and containerization, and collaborate with product managers to deliver robust, scalable systems in a remote-first, autonomy-driven culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of backend software development experience.
• Experience designing distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or Node.js for backend development.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, caching, and messaging queues.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containers (Docker/Kubernetes).

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend services and APIs.

• Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code in languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
• Optimize application performance, database interactions, and system efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices within the engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in backend software development .
• Expertise in designing and building distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong proficiency with at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Node.js).
• Deep understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL), caching mechanisms, and message queues.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
