Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer in Vereeniging, Gauteng to design, build, and optimize scalable backend services and APIs using Python with Django or Flask. You will work with cross-functional teams to ship features, write clean code, and drive architectural decisions for cloud-native systems.

You will implement robust database solutions (SQL/NoSQL), participate in CI/CD, and ensure security and performance across the stack in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of backend software development experience.
• Proven Python expertise with Django or Flask.
• Strong SQL and NoSQL database knowledge.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Proficient in Git version control.
• Cloud platforms experience (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Knowledge of microservices and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python and frameworks like Django or Flask.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and QA teams to define and deliver features.
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices.
