Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer in Gauteng to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for our fintech client. You will work with Python/Java/Go/C#, optimize databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB), and contribute to secure, high-performance systems within a hybrid in-office/remote model in Tembisa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Python, Java, Go, C#).
• Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of database technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of security best practices in backend development.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
