Job summary

DVT is a leading software consultancy in Africa, delivering modern data platforms for clients across South Africa and beyond. We seek a Senior Data Engineer / Analytics to design, build, and operate an AWS-first data platform, moving data through S3 into Redshift Serverless, orchestrated by Airflow and modeled with dbt, with potential migration toward Snowflake.

Qualifications

5+ years in data/analytics engineering or related fields.
Strong hands-on AWS data platform experience (S3, pipelines, warehouse delivery).
Apache Airflow — design, maintenance, production pipelines.
dbt — modular models, testing, documentation.
Warehouse experience: Redshift preferred; Snowflake desirable.
Python scripting for pipelines and automation.
Data modelling: dimensional, wide tables, incremental strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication for non-technical audiences.
Self-directed delivery in a fully remote client-facing environment.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines across AWS-native data environments.
Own Airflow orchestration — scheduling, dependencies, retries, alerting, and ops.
Develop analytics-ready data models in dbt with warehouse-first patterns.
Work across S3 and Redshift Serverless; plan migration toward Snowflake.
Write Python for pipelines and automation; ensure data quality and observability.
Apply version control, code reviews, and CI/CD to data workloads.
Engage with client stakeholders, present solutions, and advise on trade-offs.
