Job summary

Deloitte is seeking an AWS Data Engineer to join the Engineering AI and Data practice in Johannesburg. You will work across data ingestion, data warehousing, data lakes, and cognitive computing, applying best practices in analytics and AI-ready data solutions.

The role requires 4+ years in data engineering, strong SQL/Python skills, and experience with AWS services. You will collaborate with architects and business stakeholders, mentoring peers while delivering robust data platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or related area.
AWS certifications preferred; practical cloud platform experience mandatory.
4+ years in implementing data solutions for analytics/AI.

Responsibilities

Support end-to-end modern data platforms on AWS for analytics/AI use cases.
Collaborate with architects, data scientists, and engineers to define data structures and pipelines.
Address data privacy, security, storage, compute, and API integrations.
Mentor junior colleagues and participate in client technical discussions.
Work on AWS and other technologies, driving continuous improvement.
