About the Role

Our client, a major aviation hub operator, is seeking a highly experienced and strategically-minded Senior Aviation Security Manager to oversee and enhance security operations at their facility in Vereeniging, Gauteng . This leadership position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive security programs to protect passengers, staff, assets, and infrastructure from threats. The role involves a significant degree of on-site management and coordination, coupled with strategic planning and policy development that can be conducted in a hybrid capacity. We are looking for a proven leader with a deep understanding of aviation security regulations, threat assessment, and risk mitigation strategies. This is a critical role that requires unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest security standards in a complex and dynamic environment. Your leadership will be key to ensuring the safety and security of all airport operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a robust aviation security program in compliance with national and international regulations (e.g., ICAO, IATA, SACAA).
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and threat analyses to identify vulnerabilities and implement effective security measures.
• Oversee the daily operations of the security department, including access control, screening, surveillance, and incident response.
• Manage and train security personnel, ensuring they are proficient in security procedures, equipment operation, and emergency response.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for all airport staff.
• Liaise with law enforcement agencies, government security bodies, and other stakeholders to coordinate security efforts.
• Manage the security budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
• Investigate security breaches, incidents, and suspicious activities, reporting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Stay abreast of emerging security threats, technologies, and best practices in aviation security.
• Develop and implement contingency plans for various security scenarios, including emergencies and attacks.
• Ensure the effective use and maintenance of security equipment and technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Aviation Management, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in aviation security, with at least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge of aviation security laws, regulations, and standards.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures.
• Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and investigative abilities.
• Proficiency in security management systems and technologies.
