About the Role

Our client, a dynamic firm specializing in aviation infrastructure development, is looking for a seasoned Senior Aviation Project Manager to oversee significant projects in Polokwane, Limpopo . This role is crucial for planning, executing, and closing complex aviation-related projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will manage project teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle. This hybrid position requires a balance of on-site project oversight and the flexibility to manage aspects remotely, fostering efficient collaboration and communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end management of aviation projects, from initiation and planning through to execution, monitoring, and closure.
• Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
• Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management.
• Manage project teams, assigning tasks, providing direction, and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Ensure adherence to project management best practices, methodologies, and industry standards.
• Communicate project progress, status, and key decisions to stakeholders through regular reports and meetings.
• Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
• Ensure projects meet all relevant regulatory and safety requirements within the aviation sector.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Aviation Management, or a related field. PMP certification is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 5 years focused specifically on aviation-related projects (e.g., airport development, airline operations, aerospace manufacturing).
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex, large-scale projects from inception to completion.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in financial management and budget control.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with aviation regulations and operational standards.
