Placements24 is seeking a Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration, and validation of complex automotive systems in a remote-friendly role across South Africa.

You will collaborate with global engineering teams, drive projects from concept to production, and ensure compliance with safety and cybersecurity standards while leveraging your expertise in CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and systems tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and integration of advanced automotive electronic systems, including powertrain, infotainment, and ADAS components.
• Develop and maintain detailed system specifications, requirements, and interface definitions.
• Oversee the validation and verification of system performance through simulation, testing, and analysis, ensuring compliance with automotive standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and mechanical engineers, to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct technical reviews, and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and best practices.
• Stay abreast of emerging automotive technologies and industry trends to propose innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive systems engineering , with a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
• Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
• Proficiency in systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, MATLAB/Simulink) and simulation environments.
• Demonstrated experience with functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity principles in automotive applications.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fully remote setting.
