Placements24 is seeking a Senior Automotive Performance Engineer in Sandton to lead high-performance powertrain optimization, chassis dynamics refinement, and aero/drag improvements on cutting-edge projects within a leading automotive company. You will access state-of-the-art testing facilities and advanced simulation tools to push performance boundaries.

The role requires a Master\'s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience, proven expertise in powertrain development, and

Qualifications

Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive performance engineering.
Proven expertise in powertrain development, chassis dynamics, and vehicle aerodynamics.
Proficiency with simulation software (MATLAB/Simulink, GT-SUITE, ANSYS, etc.).
Strong analytical skills and experience with data acquisition systems.
Excellent project management and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and test performance-oriented automotive components and systems.
Conduct rigorous performance testing, data acquisition, and analysis for engines, transmissions, and chassis.
Utilize advanced simulation tools (e.g., CFD, FEA) to predict and optimize performance characteristics.
Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure performance goals are met from concept to production.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in automotive performance engineering.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
