Job summary

Placements24 in Bloemfontein is seeking a Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to lead design, development and testing of vehicle mechanical systems, including powertrain, suspension and thermal management.

You will apply advanced mechanical engineering principles, mentor junior engineers, work with cross-functional teams, and help drive innovation while ensuring reliability and performance of complex components.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years in automotive mechanical design and development.
• Experience in powertrain, chassis or thermal systems engineering.
• Proficient with CAD software and FEA tools.
• Strong material science and manufacturing process knowledge.
• Experience with testing methodologies and data acquisition.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to lead technical projects and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for automotive applications.
• Conduct engineering analysis including stress, thermal and vibration analysis.
• Use CAD software for component design and modification.
• Oversee prototype development and testing for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and project management teams.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
