Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Automotive Chassis Systems Engineer for their Bloemfontein facility in the Free State. The role focuses on design, development, and testing of vehicle chassis systems, including suspension, steering, and braking components, to deliver performance, safety, and ride comfort.

You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and testing teams from concept to production, applying CAE tools such as ADAMS, ANSYS, and Abaqus, and ensuring compliance with automotive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive chassis system design and development.
• Proven experience with suspension, steering, and braking system design.
• Proficiency in CAD and CAE tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, ADAMS, ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and NVH.
• Experience with automotive testing procedures and data analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop chassis components and systems including suspension, steering, braking, and powertrain mounting.
• Analyze chassis performance using simulation tools and experimental data.
• Define system requirements and specs ensuring dynamics, safety, and NVH targets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure development and production.
• Develop and execute test plans for chassis systems including road testing and lab validation.
• Analyze test results and implement corrective actions.
• Stay current with advancements in chassis technology and manufacturing processes.
• Manage supplier relationships for critical chassis components.
• Ensure designs comply with automotive standards and regulations.
