Placements24 in Bloemfontein seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in simulation to advance automotive components through virtual testing and analysis. You'll collaborate with design teams to optimize structures before prototyping.

The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical Engineering degree with at least 4 years’ experience using CAE tools (ANYSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, LS-DYNA) and CAD (CATIA/SolidWorks). Automotive experience is preferred, with strong communication of results.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design and simulation.
• Proven experience with CAE software for mechanical simulations (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, LS-DYNA).
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, solid mechanics and material behavior.
• Automotive industry experience is highly desirable.
• Ability to interpret complex simulation results and communicate findings effectively.
• Good CAD skills for model preparation (CATIA, SolidWorks).
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with automotive testing standards and methodologies is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and execute mechanical simulation models for automotive components and systems (e.g., chassis, body structures, powertrains).
• Use CAE tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran for Finite Element Analysis to predict structural behavior under loads.
• Perform simulations for static, dynamic, modal, fatigue, and thermal analysis.
• Interpret simulation results and provide actionable feedback to design engineers for optimization.
• Collaborate with physical testing teams to correlate simulation results with experimental data.
• Contribute to development of simulation best practices and methodologies.
• Document simulation setups, methodologies, and results clearly and concisely.
• Stay updated on advancements in simulation technologies and automotive engineering.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical issues identified through simulation.
• Assist in material selection based on simulation outcomes.
