Our client, a prestigious architectural firm with a strong portfolio in commercial and retail developments, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Architectural Technologist to join their dynamic practice in **Sandton**, Gauteng. This role requires an individual with extensive technical expertise in architectural design, detailing, and project coordination. You will be responsible for translating conceptual designs into detailed technical drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and client requirements. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing projects from inception through to construction, demonstrating strong leadership and problem-solving abilities. Working within our **Sandton** studio, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, innovative, and sustainable architectural solutions for significant commercial and retail projects across South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed architectural drawings, construction documentation, and specifications for commercial and retail projects.
• Oversee and coordinate the work of junior technologists and technicians.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure that all designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, address site queries, and ensure adherence to design intent.
• Manage project documentation, including contractual correspondence and site instructions.
• Utilize advanced CAD and BIM software for design development and documentation.
• Provide technical expertise and solutions to design challenges encountered during the project.
• Contribute to the development of design proposals and feasibility studies.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience as an Architectural Technologist, with a substantial focus on commercial and retail design.
• Professional registration with SACAP as a Professional Technologist (Pr.Tech.Arch) or equivalent is essential.
• Proven experience in producing comprehensive construction documentation and specifications.
• Proficiency in architectural CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (e.g., Revit).
• Strong understanding of building physics, materials, construction techniques, and relevant South African building regulations.
• Excellent project coordination and management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team in **Sandton**.
• A relevant Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Architectural Technology.
