Placements24 is seeking a Senior Architectural Technologist for our Mahikeng, North West office. You will translate designs into construction documentation, coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors, and ensure projects meet technical and regulatory standards.

You will lead documentation during construction, advise on methods and materials, and mentor junior staff in a hybrid work setup. A strong SA codes knowledge base and SACAP registration are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Architectural Technology.
• SACAP registration as Architectural Technologist.
• 6–8 years in architectural technology and project delivery.
• Detailed construction drawings and specs using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Knowledge of SA building codes, zoning, and environmental regs.
• Strong communication and coordination skills for site and office.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed drawings, specs, and tender docs for a variety of projects.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established architectural practice known for its efficient project delivery and diverse portfolio, is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Technologist for their office in Mahikeng, North West . This role is crucial for translating architectural designs into comprehensive construction documentation and ensuring smooth project execution. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of building codes, construction methods, materials, and regulations. You will play a key role in coordinating with architects, engineers, and contractors, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. This position offers a great opportunity to take on significant responsibility in project delivery within a growing regional hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documentation for a variety of projects.
• Ensure all technical documentation complies with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and building regulations.
• Collaborate closely with architects and engineers to integrate design intent with technical feasibility.
• Manage project documentation throughout the construction phase, including RFIs and site instructions.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Advise on construction methods, materials, and technologies to optimize project outcomes.
• Coordinate with contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient project flow.
• Mentor junior technologists and contribute to the technical development of the team.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of building technologies and regulatory changes in North West .

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology.
• Professional registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) as an Architectural Technologist.
• A minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience in architectural technology and project delivery.
• Proven expertise in producing detailed construction drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Strong understanding of building physics, structural principles, and building services integration.
• Thorough knowledge of South African building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and coordination skills for site and office environments.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setup, balancing remote and office-based work.
