Placements24 is seeking a Principal Process Chemist for a leading pharmaceutical company in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The role centers on designing, optimizing, and scaling synthesis routes for novel drug candidates, with access to advanced lab facilities and collaboration with chemists, engineers, and analysts.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, process development, and chemical engineering, and can translate lab discoveries into viable manufacturing

Qualifikationen

• PhD in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in process chemistry with API development experience in pharma.
• GMP and regulatory requirements (FDA/EMA) knowledge.

Aufgaben

• Design and develop synthetic routes for APIs with focus on efficiency and safety.
• Optimize reaction conditions, work-up procedures, and isolation methods.
• Conduct process hazard assessments and implement safety protocols.
• Run laboratory-scale experiments and pilot plant trials to prove feasibility.
• Troubleshoot challenges during process development and scale-up.
• Mentor junior chemists and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ensure compliance with GMP and regulatory submissions.
