Job description

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join the Private Lending team in Fedgroup's Alternative Asset Management business. You will independently execute and coordinate smaller transactions across the full transaction life cycle, from initial screening and financial analysis through to due diligence, credit approval and close, within defined authority limits. This is a hands-on role for an analyst ready to take on more ownership.

What you'll do
Transaction execution
  • Coordinate and manage allocated transactions from initial screening through to close, ensuring the timely completion of financial analysis, due diligence, credit approvals and transaction documentation within defined authority limits
  • Independently prepare and review credit packs, desktop valuations, financial models and credit and affordability assessments, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance before submission for senior approval
  • Coordinate due diligence processes, engaging directly with internal stakeholders, including Credit, Legal and Operations, and external parties to move transactions forward and resolve routine matters
  • Prepare, review and coordinate transaction documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance and readiness for approval and execution
Client and stakeholder engagement
  • Lead client-facing interactions on transactions under supervision, ensuring professionalism and clarity
  • Manage routine client and stakeholder queries within established parameters, escalating more complex matters to the relevant senior team member
  • Identify and resolve routine transaction-related issues, using judgement on when additional guidance or senior involvement is required
Portfolio management and analysis
  • Conduct ongoing reviews, desktop valuations and performance assessments of allocated transactions, identifying emerging risks, irregularities and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and review financial models and analyses to assess transaction viability, credit exposure, risk, returns and portfolio performance, applying sound technical judgement with reduced senior oversight
  • Gather, analyse and interpret market, industry and asset-class information to support transaction assessments, portfolio decisions and the identification of potential business opportunities
Data, systems and compliance
  • Maintain system records and ensure the integrity of AzK products or equivalent platforms
  • Collect, organise and update key transaction and portfolio data, ensuring that all data maintained and reported is accurate, complete and accessible to stakeholders
  • Comply with internal processes, standards and timelines, contributing to the overall efficiency of the team
  • Provide guidance and quality assurance to Analysts on analyses, financial models and transaction documentation
  • Review own analyses, financial models and transaction documentation for accuracy and completeness before submission for senior review
Quality assurance and development
  • Provide guidance and quality assurance to Analysts on analyses, financial models and transaction documentation
  • Review own analyses, financial models and transaction documentation for accuracy and completeness before submission for senior review
  • Select appropriate analytical approaches and methodologies within established guidelines and standards
  • Continuously develop technical, product, credit and industry expertise, applying this knowledge to improve transaction quality, decision-making and team effectiveness
Qualifications And Experience
  • A relevant Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years' relevant experience in investment management, with a specialisation in finance and structuring
  • Knowledge of credit and affordability assessment principles and property and asset valuation methods
  • Financial statement analysis and modelling experience, including advanced Excel
  • Working knowledge of relevant South African regulatory requirements, including FICA and the National Credit Act where applicable
  • Client focus, professionalism and integrity, with a compliance mindset
