Job summary

AiR is seeking a senior software engineer to own the design, build, and roadmap of AI agents for insurance clients. Position available in either Johannesburg or Ballito, with a fully remote work environment.

You will map complex insurance journeys into agent workflows, integrate agents with core systems via APIs, and continually improve agent performance using data and customer feedback. You will also help ensure compliance and build auditable systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years building production AI agents.
• Hands-on with RAG, tool calling, and agent frameworks.
• Strong Python or TypeScript and API integration skills.
• Insurance or financial services experience preferred.
• Ability to explain AI behavior to non-technical stakeholders.
• Product sense to measure success and client impact.
