Job summary

Absa Group seeks an AI Platform Engineer (Cloud) to design, build, operate, and optimise a multi-cloud AI infrastructure powering the bank’s enterprise AI. You will govern compute costs, ensure security by design, and drive scalable, observable platform services across ten countries.

You will lead architecture, IaC, and agentic AI components while collaborating with business units to deliver cost-effective AI solutions in a regulated financial services context.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in a quantitative field; advanced analytics preferred.
• Cloud platform engineering with multi-cloud medium/large scale delivery.
• Experience in FinOps, security, and platform governance.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate enterprise-grade multi-cloud AI platform infrastructure.
• Own AI compute cost models, chargeback, and cost governance.
• Define AI platform SLAs/OLAs and observability across BU tech leads.
• Lead agentic AI infrastructure and tool-calling architectures.
• Maintain IaC standards enabling auditable deployments.
