Placements24 in Sandton is seeking a Senior AI Platform Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable AI/ML infrastructure in a remote-first setup anchored in Sandton. You will empower data scientists and ML engineers to develop and deploy models seamlessly, while leading infrastructure strategy for AI initiatives.

You will own cloud architecture across AWS/Azure/GCP, implement IaC with Terraform and CloudFormation, and manage CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of infrastructure engineering experience with AI/ML platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and IaC tools.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced and proactive Senior AI Platform Engineer to join their distributed team, with an emphasis on a remote-first culture, and an anchor point in Sandton . This role is pivotal in designing, building, and maintaining the robust, scalable infrastructure that underpins our client's artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and efficiency of our AI platforms, enabling data scientists and engineers to develop and deploy models seamlessly. This is a critical opportunity to lead the infrastructure strategy for AI, work with state-of-the-art technologies, and contribute to a collaborative, global team that is driving innovation in AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage scalable and resilient AI/ML infrastructure, including MLOps pipelines.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AI models and applications.
• Implement and manage cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) for AI workloads.
• Ensure the performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of AI platforms.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to understand their infrastructure needs and provide solutions.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements proactively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
