Placements24 invites applications for a Senior AI Ethics and Governance Specialist in Midrand, Gauteng. You will lead the creation of robust AI ethics guidelines, governance structures, and risk assessments to ensure responsible AI development and deployment.

You will collaborate with product, legal, and R&D teams to align AI initiatives with societal values, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Hybrid work model available in Midrand.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in a field like Computer Science, Philosophy, Law, Public Policy with a focus on AI ethics.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, or technology governance, preferably in a corporate setting.
• Demonstrated understanding of AI technologies, ML concepts and societal implications.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing ethical frameworks and policies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with global AI regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, AI Act).
• Experience in fast-paced, tech-driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain AI ethics policies and governance across AI projects.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new AI models.
• Advise product and engineering teams on ethical considerations throughout development.
