Job summary

Betway Africa in Johannesburg seeks an experienced AI/ML engineer to design and deploy cutting-edge AI solutions. You will translate business problems into scalable ML models, build RAG and LLM-enabled apps, and integrate Azure AI services.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years hands-on AI/ML experience in production.
• Degree in CS or related quantitative field preferred.
• Certifications such as AI-102 or DP-100 preferred.
• Demonstrated Azure AI/ML services delivery.
• Experience across ML modelling, RAG, LLM apps, agentic AI, NLP & speech-to-text.
• Strong Python and SQL with clean, tested code.
• Ability to troubleshoot data, models, and integrations.
• Independent worker with cross-functional collaboration mindset.
• Commitment to continuous learning in a fast-moving field.

Responsibilities

• Translate business problems into AI/ML solutions with clear success criteria.
• Build, train, evaluate, and tune ML models (classification, regression, forecasting, etc).
• Design and implement RAG solutions; AI embeddings and vector search.
• Integrate large language models via Azure OpenAI and related services.
• Apply prompt engineering, structured outputs, and tool calls.
• Monitor latency, accuracy, cost and production drift; optimize resources.
• Collaborate with data eng and software teams; document runbooks.
• Ensure responsible AI, governance, and security considerations.
