Acuity Consultants seeks a Senior Software Engineer (AI Enabled) for a 9-month contract in Cape Town. The role combines modernising high-volume payment platforms with embedding AI capabilities, including LLMs, RAG, embeddings and vector search, across the full SDLC.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience as a Software Engineer/Software Developer, with experience leading technical delivery.
• Strong C# and .NET 8 development experience.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience with system design and architecture.
• Proven experience building and deploying AI-powered applications into production.
• Hands-on experience working with LLMs beyond basic prompt and response, including RAG, embeddings, vector search and context engineering.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, with exposure to vector databases.
• Experience leading the migration or re-platforming of live, high-volume systems.
• Strong cloud experience with AWS or Azure.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, testing, monitoring and production support
