Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for our high-tech aerospace client in Paarl, Western Cape. The role demands expertise in CATIA and SolidWorks, with a strong background in aerospace materials and FEA-driven analysis.

The candidate will design, analyze, and validate components for flight, collaborate across manufacturing and QA, and mentor junior engineers in a committed on-site team environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related aerospace field.
• 7+ years in mechanical design, with aerospace focus.
• Expert in CATIA and SolidWorks.
• Proficient with aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
• Strong analysis, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-precision mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace applications using CATIA/SolidWorks.
• Perform stress, thermal, vibration and fatigue analyses using FEA tools.
• Create and maintain detailed drawings and documentation per AS9100 standards.
• Collaborate with materials scientists, manufacturing and QA teams for feasibility and manufacturability.
• Participate in design reviews, failure analysis, and root cause investigations.
• Support prototype development, testing, and qualification processes.
• Ensure designs meet performance, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise.
