Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of effectively managing financial responsibilities and ensuring accuracy and compliance across all accounting functions. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in our financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes, as well as providing strategic financial guidance to senior management.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with established accounting principles and regulations
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for the business
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations
- Collaborate with internal teams to support budgeting and forecasting processes, as well as financial analysis and strategic planning initiatives
- Provide financial guidance to senior management, including recommending opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth
- Assist with audits and tax filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff to develop their skills and expertise

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting position
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP and IFRS
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
