Nelson Mandela University in South Africa seeks a capable administrator to provide secretarial support in the Chemistry Department, primarily for the South Campus. You will assist the Head of Department, academics, lab staff and postgraduate students with high-level administrative tasks.
The role requires 3+ years of relevant experience and strong MS Office skills, with a focus on confidentiality and efficient information management. A post-school qualification is advantageous.

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
The Department of Chemistry at Nelson Mandela University (NMU) prides itself with a long history of excellence in Learning & Teaching, Research in various fields of chemistry (i.e. Organic, In-organic & Physical etc.) and active involvement in activities and initiatives targeted at the broader community. Its functions stretch across three campuses, namely South Campus, North Campus and InnoVenton. The person appointed to this position will be expected to provide secretarial support mainly in the department’s South Campus section. In addition, the person appointed will be expected to provide full administrative support to the Head of Department, academics, laboratory technicians and assistants as well as postgraduate students in the Chemistry Department.

•Provide Secretarial support and high level administrative support.
•Manages the office of the Head of Department.
•Document and Information Management.
•Financial Administration and assisting with budget monitoring.
•Handle queries from internal and external stakeholders.
•Arranging departmental functions and meetings.
•Assist with academic administration.

REQUIREMENTS
•Grade 12 or equivalent (e.g. technical qualification). A relevant post-school qualification will be advantageous.
•A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience.
•Previous administrative experience within a university environment will be an added advantage.
