Job summary

Craven Cottage CC in South Africa is seeking an experienced chef to prepare, cook and present dishes according to approved recipes and standards. You will ensure meals are ready on time and served at the correct temperature for guests during game drives.

You will prepare snacks and cater for vegetarian and special dietary needs, keep kitchen areas hygienic, read recipes accurately, and work as part of a supportive team under supervision.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years' experience as a Chef
• Sound knowledge of cooking methods and correct food preparation
• Ability to read and follow recipes accurately
• Ability to understand instructions in English or Afrikaans
• Experience preparing vegetarian dishes and meals for special dietary needs
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• A positive approach to teamwork and a passion for food and hospitality

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present dishes according to approved recipes and established standards.
• Ensure meals are ready on time and served at the correct temperature.
• Prepare snacks, cakes and biscuits for coffee service and game-drive activities.
• Cater for vegetarian guests and other special dietary requirements.
• Keep food preparation areas, equipment and storerooms clean and hygienic.
• Clean ovens and other cooking equipment before and after use.
• Report maintenance issues, breakages, shortages and health or safety concerns.
• Assist with additional kitchen duties as directed by the supervisor or manager.
