Job description

About the Company

We are recruiting an experienced Science Teacher on behalf of a well-funded, government-backed school in Abu Dhabi that is building an international teaching faculty. The school has dedicated science laboratories and is building towards its first IGCSE examinations in June 2027. If you believe science is best learned by doing — this is your classroom.

About the Role

You will teach Science across Grades 5 to 12, covering biology, chemistry, physics and/or environmental science. Lessons are inquiry-based and hands-on — students hypothesise, experiment and analyse. You will have access to fully equipped science laboratories and work with colleagues who share a commitment to making science alive in the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Teach science subjects based on the approved curriculum, delivering engaging, inquiry-led lessons that develop curiosity and scientific reasoning.
  • Organise and facilitate laboratory experiments, practical demonstrations and real-world investigations.
  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments, provide constructive feedback and track individual student progress.
  • Differentiating instruction to stretch the most able and fully support those who need it.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Science and the wider faculty on curriculum implementation, best practice and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Maintain a safe, organised laboratory environment and ensure students follow all safety protocols.
  • Foster student enthusiasm for science through engaging lessons, stimulating discussion and support outside of class.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science or a closely related field — minimum 2:1 (a 2:2 is considered where a postgraduate qualification has been achieved).
  • Professional teaching qualification — BEd or subject degree plus PGCE.
  • Current SACE registration.
  • Minimum 3 years of classroom experience teaching Science.
  • Native or highly fluent English — the medium of instruction is English and verbal communication clarity is essential.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for inquiry-based and practical science teaching.
Required Skills
  • Experience teaching a British curriculum, IB or other recognised international curriculum (Cambridge, IEB). Other international curricula considered.
  • IGCSE or A-Level Science teaching experience (Biology, Chemistry or Physics).
  • Prior experience working in the UAE, GCC or an international school environment.
  • Experience with laboratory management and science-specific educational technology.
Preferred Skills
  • All applications are treated in confidence — the school's identity is shared at screening stage.
Pay range and compensation package
  • Tax-free including housing, with significant increments based on experience.
  • Tax-free earnings — no personal income tax in the UAE.
  • Housing allowance of AED 5,000-8,000 per month, paid separately on top of salary and set by family status.
  • Annual flight allowance covering you, a spouse and up to two school-age children.
  • Health insurance, extending to dependents.
  • Education allowance of AED 27,000 per child per year (max two children).
  • End-of-service gratuity under UAE law.
  • Visa, Emirates ID, inbound flight and two weeks' serviced four-star accommodation on arrival — all arranged and paid by the school.
  • Fully funded CPD with protected timetable time — circa 20 to 25 hours a year.
  • Teaching load capped at 22 lessons of 45 minutes a week. Class sizes under 24.
  • Monday to Friday week.
  • Annual performance bonus of 78%-150% of one month's salary, based on your rating.
