We are recruiting an experienced Science Teacher on behalf of a well-funded, government-backed school in Abu Dhabi that is building an international teaching faculty. About the Role
You will teach Science across Grades 5 to 12, covering biology, chemistry, physics and/or environmental science. Lessons are inquiry-based and hands-on — students hypothesise, experiment and analyse. You will have access to fully equipped science laboratories and work with colleagues who share a commitment to making science alive in the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Teach science subjects based on the approved curriculum, delivering engaging, inquiry-led lessons that develop curiosity and scientific reasoning.
- Organise and facilitate laboratory experiments, practical demonstrations and real-world investigations.
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments, provide constructive feedback and track individual student progress.
- Differentiating instruction to stretch the most able and fully support those who need it.
- Collaborate with the Head of Science and the wider faculty on curriculum implementation, best practice and interdisciplinary projects.
- Maintain a safe, organised laboratory environment and ensure students follow all safety protocols.
- Foster student enthusiasm for science through engaging lessons, stimulating discussion and support outside of class.
Qualifications
- Degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science or a closely related field — minimum 2:1 (a 2:2 is considered where a postgraduate qualification has been achieved).
- Professional teaching qualification — BEd or subject degree plus PGCE.
- Current SACE registration.
- Minimum 3 years of classroom experience teaching Science.
- Native or highly fluent English — the medium of instruction is English and verbal communication clarity is essential.
- Genuine enthusiasm for inquiry-based and practical science teaching.
Required Skills
- Experience teaching a British curriculum, IB or other recognised international curriculum (Cambridge, IEB). Other international curricula considered.
- IGCSE or A-Level Science teaching experience (Biology, Chemistry or Physics).
- Prior experience working in the UAE, GCC or an international school environment.
- Experience with laboratory management and science-specific educational technology.

Pay range and compensation package
- Tax-free including housing, with significant increments based on experience.
- Tax-free earnings — no personal income tax in the UAE.
- Housing allowance of AED 5,000-8,000 per month, paid separately on top of salary and set by family status.
- Annual flight allowance covering you, a spouse and up to two school-age children.
- Health insurance, extending to dependents.
- Education allowance of AED 27,000 per child per year (max two children).
- End-of-service gratuity under UAE law.
- Visa, Emirates ID, inbound flight and two weeks' serviced four-star accommodation on arrival — all arranged and paid by the school.
- Fully funded CPD with protected timetable time — circa 20 to 25 hours a year.
- Teaching load capped at 22 lessons of 45 minutes a week. Class sizes under 24.
- Monday to Friday week.
- Annual performance bonus of 78%-150% of one month's salary, based on your rating.
