Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable contractor seeking a SCADA Engineer to join their Control Systems team in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities

• Developing specifications and concept designs for SCADA components and system architecture.
• Reviewing and integrating third-party SCADA systems with overall plant control systems.
• Configuring Power Plant Controllers (PPC) and ensuring compliance with utility grid codes.
• Proficiency in PLC / HMI programming (TIA Portal EcoStruxure Codesys).
• Proven experience in PPC configuration and commissioning (Siemens Schneider DEIF etc.).
• Solid understanding of Modbus TCP / IP IECDNP3 OPC UA.
• Familiar with grid-tied logic and system-level control schematics.
• Willingness to travel for site work and system commissioning.
• Experience with solar PV or renewable projects; experience in hybrid or BESS systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelors in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering.
• At least 3 years of SCADA experience in solar PV or renewable projects.
• Experience in PPC configuration and commissioning (Siemens, Schneider, DEIF, etc.).
• Proficiency in PLC / HMI programming (TIA Portal, EcoStruxure, Codesys).
• Solid understanding of Modbus TCP / IP, IEC 60870-5 (IEC DNP3), OPC UA.
• Familiar with grid-tied logic and system-level control schematics.
• Willingness to travel for site work and system commissioning.
