Job summary

Saw Mill Manager position in White River, Mpumalanga overseeing the complete sawmill operation from log intake to finished product. The role drives production, recovery, quality, efficiency and cost targets while optimizing log breakdown and maximizing yield.

Requires 8–10 years in sawmill/manufacturing and 5+ years senior leadership, with strong maintenance, financial and OHS knowledge. South Africa-based, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/Matric required.
• BTech / National Diploma Wood Technology / BSc Wood Science or equivalent.
• 8–10 years’ experience in a sawmill/manufacturing production environment.
• Minimum 5 years’ senior management/supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of sawmilling processes and optimisation.
• Proven leadership and people-management skills.
• Mechanical & electrical knowledge of sawmill machinery.
• Experience with planned/preventative maintenance.
• Strong financial, cost-management and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of OHS Act and SANS/SABS quality standards advantageous.
• Advanced MS Office skills.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the complete sawmill operation from log intake to finished product.
• Drive production, recovery, quality, efficiency and cost targets.
• Optimise log breakdown and maximise recovery/yield.
• Manage budgets, cost per m³ and operational performance.
• Drive preventative maintenance and minimise downtime.
• Lead, develop and motivate management and operational teams.
• Ensure OHS, environmental and quality compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement and plant optimisation.
