Recruitment Web South Africa seeks an experienced Saw Mill Manager to lead a White River operation, overseeing log intake through to finished product. The role demands strong leadership, extensive sawmilling knowledge and a track record of driving efficiency, cost targets and maintenance discipline.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years in sawmill/manufacturing, 5+ years of senior leadership, and solid expertise in Wet/Dry mill processes, quality standards, and OHS compliance.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years' experience in a sawmill/manufacturing production environment
• Minimum 5 years' senior management/supervisory experience
• Proven Wet Mill & Dry Mill knowledge/experience
• Strong knowledge of sawmilling processes, log breakdown, recovery & production optimisation
• Strong people-management and leadership skills
• Mechanical & electrical knowledge of sawmill machinery
• Experience with planned/preventative maintenance
• Strong financial, cost-management and analytical skills
• Knowledge of OHS Act, SANS/SABS quality standards advantageous
• Advanced MS Office skills
• Valid Driver's Licence

Responsibilities

• Lead the complete sawmill operation from log intake to finished product
• Drive production, recovery, quality, efficiency and cost targets
• Optimise log breakdown and maximise recovery/yield
• Manage budgets, cost per m³ and operational performance
• Drive preventative maintenance and minimise downtime
• Lead, develop and motivate management and operational teams
• Ensure OHS, environmental and quality compliance
• Drive continuous improvement and plant optimisation
