Job summary

PwC South Africa’s Technology & Innovation Centre in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced Intermediate Business Analyst to join the Insurance Tech team and help translate business needs into ready user stories for InsureTech projects.

You will bridge business and technical teams, refine the backlog with the Product Owner, and participate in sprint ceremonies, QA, and UAT. The role also involves mentoring junior analysts and contributing to process improvements.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years experience in business analysis, with a strong focus on the insurance or financial services industry.
• Experience in Requirement and Ticket Management tools like Jira and Confluence
• AGILE methodology/Scaled Agile Framework experience
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work in agile environments
• Mentoring and leadership skills for junior analysts

Responsibilities

• Bridge the gap between business and technical teams by working closely with Product Owners
• Work with Product Owner to stock the product/project backlog ensuring it represents overall project scope
• Continuously refine backlog by organising/prioritising stories and splitting epics into deliverable stories
• Participate in business requirements review meetings
• Capture detailed user requirements before sprint planning
• Participate in quality assurance activities and work with Test Analysts
• Assist with user acceptance testing and demonstrate developed functionality
• Participate in daily standup meetings, sprint planning and retrospectives
• Guide and mentor junior Business Analysts
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes
• Requirements gathering through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and surveys
• User story development and acceptance criteria creation
• Process mapping and identification of improvement areas
• Stakeholder communication as liaison between business and development teams
• Testing and validation collaboration with QA teams

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience in business analysis, finance, insurance, information systems, business management, or a related discipline.
• Relevant Platform Certification - Candidates who do not hold the required approved certification when joining must obtain it within the first 12 months of employment.
