Job summary

Opensource Intelligent Solutions is seeking a SAP FI Functional Consultant for a long-term contract based in South Africa. The role focuses on SAP integrations across FI, MM and SD, with emphasis on invoicing and middleware, plus leveraging AI tools to streamline tasks.

You will lead multi-country integration programmes, design scalable solutions, engage stakeholders, and mentor engineers. Strong knowledge of eInvoicing standards, CI/CD, JIRA/Confluence, and production support are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 15+ years in SAP functional roles focusing on invoicing, integrations and middleware.
• Proven track record leading complex, multi-country or middleware integration programmes and mentoring cross-functional teams.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery, JIRA/Confluence tooling, operations ITSM processes and enterprise architecture best practices.
• Experience with governance, performance tuning and analytics dashboards.

SAP FI Functional Consultant
long-term contract
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• SAP Integration and other middleware knowledge/expertise (15+ years) across invoicing and related modules (FI, MM, SD).
• Ability to integrate the use of AI (GitHub Co Pilot and usage of various LLMs) to efficiently complete tasks. Ability to understand broader business processes and hence adapt to IT specifications and development. Strong knowledge of eInvoicing standards.
• Excellent knowledge of various document formats.
• Proven experience in solution architecture and designing scalable integrations.
• Advanced stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
• Exceptional leadership and team coaching skills, including mentoring senior and junior engineers.
• Proficiency with Agile delivery methods, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
• Experience with JIRA and Confluence administration and governance.
• Strong problem analysis and incident management capabilities for production support.
• Ability to design and oversee database updates and data migration strategies.
• Experience with monitoring, dashboard design and automated reporting. Excellent knowledge of database structures.

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS:

• Hands-on experience with middleware such as KAFKA and API integration technologies.
• Familiarity with dealing with Production operational processes and problem solving. (ITSM processes: CR creation, approvals and ticket lifecycle management).
• Knowledge of automated testing and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Experience working with outsourced delivery partners and managing handovers (e.g., Accenture).
• Understanding of country-specific regulations and multi-country rollouts.
• Experience with governance processes & methodologies.
• Background in performance tuning and stability improvements for high-volume integrations.
• Knowledge of governance and version control best practices.
• Experience with analytics tools and building business-facing dashboards.
• Prior experience operating as a sub-PDO, Agile Master or Delivery lead in a product organisation. Working under pressure.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
