Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician for our client’s commercial properties in Sandton, Gauteng. You will oversee upkeep, safety, and functionality to provide a well-maintained environment for tenants and visitors.

Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, painting, HVAC checks, and general groundskeeping. The role requires a practical, proactive mindset and a commitment to quality workmanship in a dynamic Sandton business district.

Qualifications

• Experience as Building Maintenance Technician or similar trade role.
• Proficiency in plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, and painting.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve a wide range of building maintenance issues.
• Knowledge of building systems maintenance and safety regulations.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency plumbing repairs (fixtures, pipes, drains).
• Conduct electrical maintenance and minor repairs (light fixtures, outlets, switches).
• Undertake carpentry tasks (framing, repairs, fixture installation).
• Handle painting and drywall repairs to maintain aesthetics.
• Service and maintain building systems (HVAC, pumps, basic controls).
• Inspect property to identify issues and needed repairs.
• Respond to maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
• Ensure work completion adheres to codes and safety rules.
• Maintain organized inventory of supplies and tools.
• Perform general groundskeeping and janitorial duties as needed.
