Job summary

Shift Pursuit is seeking a motivated SAIPA Trainee Accountant to join a professional accounting practice in Cape Town. This role offers mentorship and exposure to IFRS for SMEs, VAT, PAYE, and diverse accounting tasks while completing SAIPA training.

The successful candidate will gain practical experience, learn taxation concepts, and provide financial administration support within a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate (Matric).
• No prior work experience required.
• BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification (completed or currently in progress).
• Strong computer literacy, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Xero accounting software will be advantageous.
• Excellent organisational and self-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Interpret clients’ accounting records and compile annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs.
• Process monthly accounting transactions for VAT purposes and reconcile records up to trial balance.
• Perform tax calculations and prepare income tax and provisional tax returns.
• Complete VAT and PAYE calculations and submissions.
• Assist with various client-related administrative and accounting matters.
• Resolve client and SARS-related queries professionally and efficiently.
