Job summary

Christo Prins Accountants in Paarl is seeking SAIPA Trainee Accountants to support the accounting team and gain hands-on experience across financial tasks, including preparing IFRS for SMEs statements, VAT processing, and tax calculations. The ideal candidate has a BCom Accounting or is progressing, Matric with Mathematics and Accounting, strong Excel skills, and good Afrikaans/English communication.

Prior practice experience is advantageous, and you should aspire to become a Professional

Qualifications

• Matric with Mathematics and Accounting is required.
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree in progress or completed.
• Experience in a practice is advantageous.
• Strong computer literacy, especially Excel.
• Experience with Sage Online and DraftWorx is advantageous.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent self-management skills.
• Well-developed communication skills in Afrikaans and English.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting clients’ accounting records and compiling annual financial statements (IFRS for SMEs).
• Processing of monthly transactions for VAT purposes and reconciling records up to trial balance status.
• Performing tax calculations and completing income tax returns and provisional tax returns.
• Performing VAT and PAYE calculations.
• Assisting with various client matters, including administrative work.
• Resolving queries (including SARS).

Christo Prins Accountants, based in Paarl, is looking for SAIPA Trainee Accountants with a strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude to join their team. As a SAIPA Trainee Accountant, you will be an integral part of the accounting team, assisting with a range of financial tasks and gaining valuable experience in the field. The successful candidates should aspire to become a Professional Accountant (SA).

• Processing of monthly transactions for VAT purposes and the reconciliation of records up to the trial balance status
• Performing tax calculations and completing income tax returns and provisional tax returns

• Resolving queries (including SARS)
